Good man, Parrot. I’m not saying Slow’s is bad but their service is terrible and the parking sucks. My food was brought cold more than once, I got sick of it. They do have very good macaroni and cheese. The one time I had ribs there they were not good though.

Red Smoke has been great every time I’ve gone. It’s not cheap but their ribs are fantastic. If you want to go cheap, Lafayette is the only place to go. Like the original poster said. There is no better hot dog/coney.

Hands down its red smoke. I make it back home twice a year (one tigers game and one red wings game) and red smoke it is every time. The jalapeño cornbread is amazing.

Dude, Hunter’s average this year was .313. He had 92 rbi’s and his OPS was .817. He doesn’t suck — despite your concerns about his age, he IS an upgrade for us.

If the really want to improve and stop shopping every year, go get Michael Bourne. Lead off hitter that can steal. Remember Ron Leflore, Kaline, Chet Lemon, Kemp…….etc Those guys actually had speed and could catch. Funny how they could keep Granderson, but can pay an old Hunter with less skills. Signing Hunter now says that is your priority…….another bat. Worst infield in the league, slowest team……just add a bat in the outfield. nice Good to see Matt Millian’s still has connections in this town.

Hunters health record and age 37 tell me they they don’t need a mentor, they need a player. One that will get on base and score. If this was Tori from 5 years ago, then yes. Tori is Maggs only a little faster. We don’t need a 2 or 5 hitter. We need a leadoff hitter. One with speed. Austin is a 3 or 5 hitter of the future.

Avillia is awesome, I don’t want to replace him. I just said if you have Dodger pockets, go get Napoli or A.J. to save his knees and back some.

As far as Sanchez, next year’s FA pitching crop is a TON deeper…Volquez Vargas Shields, Santana, , Maholm Lincecum Lester, J Johnson, Garza, Floyd, Scott Baker as guys in their 28-32 age seasons….$15m a yr for Sanchez isn’t supportable given the need to re-up JV and Cabby plus extend Maxx, Fister AJax Avila and find long term middle infield solutions…

He would become their second best defensive fielder right away. He is still a nice player and they only want a short-term solution. They like Garcia, and they moved their best prospect (Castellanos) from 3rd to outfield.

One of those free agency situations that fits both wonderfully.

With the Tigers, Hunter is on a contender in a much weaker division than he just left. With Hunter, they would be adding a solid defender whose offense looks even better matched up with the return of Victor Martinez.

I don’t know how you can think playing Dirks or Berry over Hunter is spending money wisely. They only have to sign Hunter to a short term contract, and hopefully, when that’s up the FA market will be better or we will have worked out a great trade. They are going to spend on Sanchez, so Hunter tides us over without breaking the bank. Plus, he can help mentor Garcia. (Paperlions can give you the numbers on his Mentoring Above Replacement.) Hamy Chews is too much money for a potential train wreck.

I don’t know how you want to ditch Avila but play Berry. That defies logic. Also, we don’t need another SP (besides Sanchez). Better to develop Smyly – kid is pretty good – and work on our bullpen. I want the Tigers in it every year too, but I don’t want them to make it by the skin of their teeth only to lose out at the big dance again. This gives us immediate improvement and time to build.

Tigers need a corner outfielder until Avisail Garcia is a little more seasoned. Hunter would be a great mentor to all of the Tigers young outfielders. Plus, he is a # 2 hitter the Tigers haven’t had since Palanco. Great signing if it happens.

Old…..need a corner outfielder for the long term. Even if he signs and the win the WS, he retires and the Tigers need a corner outfielder. If they don’t win and he retires(or hangs around to collect a huge pay check) they need a corner outfielder. In a down FA year, this is the best? OLD….SLOW….GROUND OUT to 3rd…..STRANDS BASERUNNERS…..Rather play Dirks or Berry.
