End of story. These comments from management are just today’s little tidbit to make it seem like they really wanted to retain these guys. The team is broke and there are no indications that they intend to spend any time soon. Why would they keep two guys who can bring massive prospects when Wright’s prime will just about be up and Dickey will be collecting social security by the time the team is financially ready to compete in the NL East. It sucks but the fans should be clamoring to get top prospects for these guys while they can.
