Looks like I hit a nerve! Now if you’re talking about the WS wins since the teams have appeared on the West Coast, yes. If you count the total since the franchises have been in existence, no. The Giants have won a total of seven titles and the Dodgers have won six. Of course, the important thing is where you want to draw the arbitrary line that makes you feel like a winner, right, little guy?

Why even discuss baseball with a Battery Chucker? It’s not like you actually read what’s been written. I know this because you continue to make the same tired and untrue statements. There is a difference between trades and FA signings. Especially trades made at and after the deadline (i.e. end of July, beginning to middle of August). Nobody in Dodgersville felt that making those trades were going to do anything but possibly provide a shot in the arm. Because, see, those trades were made just as much for 2013 as they were for a hopeful shot in 2012.

Breathing in grandfather farts in the back seat of a slow moving car is more pleasant an experience than discussing baseball with Battery Chuckers. Because at least those farts don’t lie.

SF Giants fans have problems with reading comprehension. No one denies the Dodgers haven’t won a World Series in 20+ years. No one denies the Giants having won two World Series in the last 3 years. Just like no one can deny the LA Dodgers have won a total of 5 World Series versus only 2 for the SF Giants.

So what’s your point?

Good luck with that, Koufaxmitzvah. The product on the field has yielded the Dodgers precious few positive results and their strategy of buying a WS-caliber team hasn’t worked well for them, has it? On the other hand, the Gigantes strategy of building teams using players who have been cultivated in their farm teams plus smart purchases throughout the regular season have resulted in two World Series in three years. Therefore, I see considerable difference in Dodger fans and Giants fans: we Giants fans root for a winning team.

Nobody is arguing the Dodgers were a better team than the Giants last season. SF earned its WS title. But if you really believe Scutaro and his career .270 average is going to continue to play Superman, you’re crazy. And sure it sounds like a cop-out to say the Dodgers’ all-star lineup missed the playoffs because they only had five weeks together, but it’s true. The final two weeks of the season, when they all finally started to click, was much more indicative of what opponents will get this coming season. That should be a scary thought. Yes I still think the Giants have a better overall team (mostly because of the rotation), but would I be surprised at ALL to see the Dodgers take the West back in 2013? Not even a little bit.

Hence, we see some differences between Dodgers fans and Giants fans. Optimism for the product on the field as opposed to the thrill of shoving it in the other team fans faces; check. Knowledge of numbers (Gonzalez: .297 avg, 31 RP in 36 games; Beckett 2.93 ERA, 38 K in 43 IP) as to what is considered good and terrible; check. The belief that a 2 month sprint equates a full 6 month marathon; check.

Trashing the Giants’ strategy a month after they won a world series and the Dodgers failed to back into the playoffs with all their shiny new busts. Smart.

The money means nothing if you don’t spend it on players that at least KIND OF earn it (Miggy, Fielder, Sabathia, Cain, Beltre etc)

To be completely honest I still am surprised Dodger fans are so confident in Gonzalez, Beckett and Hanley as being superstars after you watched them make little if any impact for a good 2 months of the season.

The trade was intended to get them into the playoffs and have a shot at a ring in 2011. Thinking you are obligated to spend like a drunken housewife to keep him does not remedy that mistake, it potentially makes it worse 2 years from now.

The Angels are doing what a responsible team does: realize that at a certain cost, players will hurt your team more than help them.

A-Rod is too expensive to trade or cut for the Yankees even though he is extremely mediocre. Vernon Wells prevents the Angels from spending an extra $24M ever year. Barry Zito prevented the Giants from acquiring offense for years. The Phillies will soon have to win IN SPITE of Ryan Howard and not get to benefit from him.

If you are the Dodgers it makes sense to severely overpay everyone to get marginally better because you have no budget and your GM has proven to be pretty terrible at identifying value in trades. For teams that have to make smart decisions, flexibility matters.

If you don’t think any team that signs him won’t allow him to talk to a therapist about his anxiety whenever he needs to, you’re crazy. It’s kind of like a recurring injury. You know how to fix it, sometimes you just need a little physical therapy to help out. And historiophiliac is right, social anxiety is more common when having face to face interaction with people. In a crowd like that, people’s attention doesn’t seem as focused in on just you.

It hurts a little to say it since he was such a tool about the Cardinals during the 2011 post season, but I hope he gets a big contract with a big market team and performs so much better than expected. It’s always nice to have someone in the spotlight overcome a struggle to prove to other’s going through it that the fight to overcome it is all worth it…especially when it’s to say, “I overcame it to go on to make $20+ million/year pitching for (insert big name here).” Good luck Zack!

I love how mad giants fans are getting about hearing all the news the dodgers are getting. I have not heard a single thing about the giants winning the ws or about them in general since the week after they won it. The dodgers have not proven anything yet and can’t say a whole lot until they do but after all the McCourt drama we are so relieved on an ownership willing to do anything for the organization from top to bottom ( the lineup is a fraction of what they are doing ). And Andre is a great on defense hence his gold glove.
