Why do MLB players wait months and months to FINALLY have the surgery only to miss a substantial amount of the next season recuperating?? If they are diagnosed with torn ligaments, get the surgery done A.S.A.P. and minimize the downtime the next season. That would make that player that much more valuable to the team.

If the Redbirds go for Cabrera I would let Furcal keep the bench warm for Mabry or Matheny for when they want to sit down.
