Sometimes, guys appreciate being the face of the franchise, especially in a giant media market like New York. As for the Mutts being bad for years to come, next year is likely a lost cause but the Nats, A’s and O’s proved this past year that things can turn around quickly with the right moves.

I was just about to say the same thing. 7 years just feels like a long time to any guy older than 27-28, but that works out to less than $18 million per season, which honestly seems pretty reasonable for a guy of Wright’s caliber.

7 years 125 Mill is a great deal for Wright…..I am sure the Phillies and other teams who need a 3rd Baseman would gladly trade for him and pay him that. If the Mets don’t wanna like the other guy said trade him now while his value is great and get the Max return. They are probably pissing him off now with low ball offers knowing they can’t really afford him.

Great player but that is a lot of years and a lot of money which in a baseball sense isn’t justified. If he absolutely can’t be signed the Mets should move him now because his value will never be greater.
