Always been a huge Scott Rolen fan. He grew up a couple of hours south and regularly worked out in the offseason at the baseball bldg. in my hometown (he's good friends with a local coach). Dude loves teaching baseball to the younger kids and has a lot of knowledge (not to mention having one of the best gloves at 3rd base the game has ever seen). He would be a nice asset for the Redlegs in ANY capacity. The problem with having him play a part time role is Dusty's infatuation with veterans. I fear it will be far too easy for ole' Dusty to bench Frazier with Scottie on the bench. Especially should Frazier have a poor start (as the "Dipwad" stated).

Rolen has been a wonderful influence on the younger players, and the Reds have a lot of them. He sets a tremendous example, and offers a lot of good advice. When he is finished as a player, I sincerely hope the Reds hire him as a coach or manager. He would be a great one. Far better than a couple that the Reds have, now.

Rolen's productivity rests entirely on the health of his shoulders, for which he has had 4 surgeries. By the time the season starts he will be 38. The problem is, only he seems to know whether he can come back; never hear media comments from the Reds training staff on his condition. So if he's alive and kicking come early April, Dusty would probably start him, to the irritation of almost every Reds fan.

And as for Mr Cairo... Miggy? Please.
