a 38 yr old pitcher for a 23 yr old top prospect ? i think the proper response is not a snowballs chance………. Regardless of who the throw ins are DM would not trade a prospect for a 38 yr old starter. I would like King Felix although the price would be very high so I do not see that trade happening either. Billy Butler is a silver slugger award winner, arguably one of the best hitting right handers in baseball and entering his prime hitting years I would trade him to seattle for Taijuan Walker and Stephen Pryor or Danny Hultzen and James Paxton

Myers needs to bring back a proven #1 starter, which leaves out everyone on the Tampa Bay staff except for Price….even then if such a guy is available (such as Mat Latos last year), Royals would need to toss in more to get him……

Wasn’t Young traded after assaulting a minor league up and having a pretty crappy year in the majors? I guess there is a lesson there……if everyone thinks more highly of a player than the team that has him….they may know something no one else does.

Although Will Myers shouldnt be the first option to trade the Royals would be silly not to listen to offers…Myers can bring a windfall to the Royals if the deal is done right. But the smart thing to do is shed some of that money like Gordon, Butler and Franceour…if i was Drayton i would trade Butler, Franceour, john Lamb, insert a catcher here to sweeten the deal w/ Brian Fletcher (just because he is a power hitter) pllus 5 mil in cash to the Rays for Hellickson, Wade Davis, Alex Colome and Brandon Guyver

He’s referring to Delmon Young as the number one prospect in baseball, which he arguably was in 2005, not in 2007 when that trade went down.

I watched them play in person against the Yankees and the Red Sox and you couldn’t be more right, ‘lions. Their bogosity as fielders was epic. Add to that they gave up homers to good hitters: Ortiz mainly. Otherwise they pitched well. Their park allows the pitchers they do have to be better. Concentrating on hitting and fielding would be a good move for them to make the most of what their park gives them.

Garza was the Twins #1 prospect, not the #1 prospect in baseball, he was never close to being a top 10 prospect in all of baseball.

Kcrobert10, ideally,the Mets make the most sense as a trading partner,due to their plethora of starting pitchers with bright futures ahead of them. Wil Meyers would fill the needs for a right handed,power hitting outfielder in a left handed heavy Mets line-up. Jon Neise,Wilmer Flores and Jeurys Familia would net Wil Meyers,and if you don’t believe that is enough,then they could possibly take Jenrry Mejia as well. Neise carries an extremely team friendly contract that holds him signed till 2016,with team options for 2017 and 2018. That translates to $46 million,including the options. The potential for Neise is there to develop into a successful starting pitcher.

Well,R.A. Dickey is the most intriguing person on the trade market,I believe it could definitely happen. While Dickey is 38,people are often forgetting that Knuckleballers typically pitch well into their 40s,and RA is the guy you go to every 5th day for a W. I love him to death,and feel that people are wrong for doubting this idea. Either that,or Jon Neise could be what the Royals are looking for.

We’ll give you Adam Lind, 4M$, 1 top 10 prospect. for Hosmer, since we kinda need a 1B for the future. Or maybe Ricky Ro for Hosmer, both had down years the only thing is I dont see us giving up a SP. and im not even sure if this could work out for both teams.

I think Myers, moose and a b level pitching prospect would be a good deal for King Felix and Seager (spelling?). Ms get two corner stone type offensive players and give up pitching. Seager is an average at best player but could fill third base for the Royals.

Have the royals not learned anything from the rays or A’s? Tell me when was the last time either of those teams traded away their top prospect? Unless they can basically trade for a player with similar talent level, similar age and similar team controlled options this trade makes no sense.

The funny thing is that almost every team in MLB would take the stud position player over the stud pitcher simply because of pitcher injury risk. So….the Royals are looking to trade more-or-less laterally, while paying more for the player, and assuming greater injury risk. That is just bad baseball management.

It isn’t like the Royals are loaded with offensive talent, last year they weren’t good at scoring runs or preventing them. This would just be a monumentally stupid move.

Redsox should trade away Lester and elsbury for Myers. We need a good young player to build around. Middlebrooks and Myers are great corner stones to start a rebuilding team. Now is the perfect opportunity because they have hardly any salary because of the trade with LA. Trade for Justin upton and Myers. And brooks, Myers, and upton will be the face of the redsox organization for years to come.

Of course there is always risk, but Myer is nearly major league ready, had excellent minor league stats overall, and just had a monster season at AA/AAA. Very rarely does this track record not translate into a productive major league career.

On the other hand, Shields has a 107 career ERA+. He is certainly solid, but with only two years left I think he is exactly the kind of guy you should be able to get with second tier prospects.
