I am hoping you are right about Stephen Drew. To sign him without breaking the bank would be wonderful. Also a fan of Adsdrubal. But Drew is far superior defensively. Get it done!

…and they probably don’t like the asking price for A. Cabrera….whose never been a good defender. I’d rather them sign Drew and pass on trading for Cabrera.

If they have to overpay a little to keep it at 2 years fine although I think someone will definitely bite for 3..

Interesting stuff beyond the great “lefty reliever” search, multiple STL media types and Jim Bowden are reporting the Cards are indeed making a run at Steven Drew – seems they’re not too comfy with Furcal’s alleged “100% healthy” diagnosis.

Kinda “meh” about Burnett, with a slight lean to the okay. Was hoping for a move with the Braves for the likes of O’Flarerty, and still hope they take a flyer on the Indians reliever, Perez?, but if they can work out a reasonable deal with Burnett then okay, but if he holds out for a bigger deal, I say pass.

It’s easier to just win and ignore conventional wisdom that is unwise.

I wouldn’t mind if they added Burnett since he isn’t horrible against righties…but I can’t see any reason to do more than 2 years for a relievers….especially considering all of the quality young arms they have.

Managers are always afraid of being second guessed. You just know Boggs could get left-handers out 20 times in a row but then when he gives up a game winning double to Jason Heyward it will be why didn’t you bring in Rzepczynski? If Rzepczynski comes in and gives up the double to Heyward it’s his fault and not Matheny’s. And Matheny can blame Mo for not getting him a left-hander that can get guys like Heyward out.

Easier to go with conventional wisdom.

If Burnett signs for $2 mil yr / 2 yrs I think the Redbirds should sign hime if they feel that they truely need a Lefty specialist. I personally don’t think we need him or any other lefty for the bullpen for that matter. The Cards have Boggs, Rosenthal, and Browning that all are VERY capable of winning the Righty/Lefty batter in the latter innings.

Now if they could find a sucker(s) to take Marte and Cleto…
