It doesn’t seem that the Dodgers ever planned on making an effort so sign him…they said as much after it was announced that their bid had won. Of course, bidding high and not making an honest effort to sign the player is in violation of the posting system rules….but I doubt that MLB has the balls to call them on it and award proceed to the next highest bid, as they are supposed to do.

My guess is there is another team willing to pay more if he’s available next year. I’m sure Boras is telling the Dodgers that.

Will he just be reposted by his team in Japan. If that happens my guess is he just doesn’t want to play in la or la is lowballing him and we all know Boras will have none of that. Also Boras tends carry these things out till the very last min just to try to get a better deal.
