I think Soria could have gotten a closing gig somewhere else, but perhaps he’s an insurance policy at closer for Texas now that Neftali Feliz is rehabbing from TJ surgery. Either way, it’s good for the Rangers, given that they’ll likely lose Koji Uehara and maybe Mike Adams in free agency.

TJ recovery time isn’t some great mystery these days.

Also, where exactly have the Rangers been spending “pointlessly like drunk sailors”? Their big acquisitions the last 2 years have been Adrian Beltre, Joe Nathan, and Yu Darvish. They walked away from Cliff Lee and CJ Wilson, they didn’t get into the mix with Pujols or Prince.

You seem to be confusing them with Boston, Miami, and most recently LA, because those are the only drunk sailors I can remember.

He shouldn’t get anything more than a one year, make-good type of deal. Rangers are like the used-to-be Yankees and the new Dodgers, though; they love to spend pointlessly like drunk sailors. I hope they also realize that, if they’re counting on Soria to take Mike Adams place, he really isn’t expected to be ready until perhaps as late as June.
