Why is everyone so willing to trash everything Boston does. Yes they overpaid a little for Gomes. He probably is worth 3-4 mill annually and they gave him 5 million over 2 years. BIG WHOOP. Who cares, its not like they gave him 3 years 27 million which is what Cody Ross wanted, In fact Gomes and Ross are virtually the same player, except Ross hits like crap on the road. On the other hand, the Red Sox are on drugs for giving someone who is likely to get 300-400 PA 5 million. But its a smart move for GMs to give relievers 6-10 million to pitch 70 innings and record saves (which is the most meaningless stat for a pitcher). Back to the topic, Hairston deserves a 2 year deal. Also I don't know who Gomez is.

He's worth a 2 year deal. His road stats away from citi are pretty good .301/.335/.528 and 9 HR in 193 abs. If Gomes got 2 years hairston should hold out for that as well.

Nah. But I figure the Yankees can get by short term by re-signing Chavez and having him split time with Nix OR the other option is for the Yankees to go after Keppinger and have him split time with Chavez. OR they could bite the bullet so to speak and try a swing a trade for a "real" starting 3rd baseman. The possibilities are endless.

I wouldn't mind a Hairston/Ibanez platoon in right field for the Yankees in 2013. Even if the Yankees have to sign Hairston to a 2 year deal. He's going to be relatively cheap and then in 2014 Ibanez goes away. I think it could definitely work out.
