The Mariners have checked in on Delmon Young

Jon Paul Morosi:

Mariners have checked in on Delmon Young. As I reported last night he’s expected to work out for teams and sign in January.

And upon checking in they went “eww, it’s Delmon Young. Sorry. Our mistake.”

In all seriousness, I am curious as hell about what happens to Delmon Young.  He was pretty bad all season, then hit .312/.365/.542 with three homers and nine RBI in the playoffs, then he had ankle surgery last month.

That’s two major red flags and one shiny, superficial, small-sample performance. Will he still get paid for that, or will he get the one-year journeyman deal he probably deserves?

Why would they check in on that fat clown? Do they need a new guy for the Moose costume?

the mariners seem to like bad signings, so this should be perfect. he’ll hit 209 with maybe 13 hr’s and then yell shit at any jewish fans he sees.

If you can swing a bat and are under the age of 50, the M’s are checking you out. Doesn’t mean that it’s anything more than “Umm, ok, no” however.

Maybe baseball groupies in Miami are low enough for Delmon. You know he’s thinking about it like Josj Hamilton thinks about state income tax rates.

Everytime I start looking at prospect rankings, I just say to myself “Delmon Young.” He was once ranked ahead of the likes of Verlander, Tulowitzki, Fielder, Braun, McCutchen, Upton, Weaver, Kemp, among others.

I hope Seattle doesn’t have a large Jewish community because this jerk doesn’t do well with them.
