Jerry Crasnick reports that the Indians are a prime suitor for Johnny Damon.
Oh, wait, he said Shane Victorino. Sorry. Honest mistake:
Momentum is building in Shane Victorino talks. A deal could get done in Nashville.

#Indians have emerged as a prime suitor for Victorino. Terry Francona reached out to him personally earlier in offseason.

Seems like a match made in heaven. For Victorino the only reason to go to Cleveland would be to build value to go someplace else later. For Cleveland, the only reason to sign Victorino is because they can’t sign anyone else.
Not inspiring for anyone, though.

It’s inspiring to ME that the Indians might sign someone who could contribute.
Then all they’d have to do is trade for the Nationals’ starting rotation and they’d be set for a playoff run!

Classic Indians two step. Try to sign him now, hope to fail, so they can talk about trying to sign players.
OR
Sign him now. When the team is out of the playoff hunt around May 15th, trade him for low level prospects.

Wtf is a “prime suitor”. Who defines that? It’s just an empty declaration.
