I don’t see either Greinke (Dodgers) of Hamilton (???) wearing a Rangers uniform next year. They offered Clif Lee 120 million and did not even want to go that high, so 150-160 mil for Greinke is a long shot. They won’t go over 4 years on Hamilton, maybe an option for the 5th year, and some idiot owner will give 7 years to Hamilton. Rangers need to trade for a pitcher, or hope the farm produces one.

I’ve also seen as a Yankee fan how bad those long contracts could be with A-Rod guy is completely broken down and has no ability of staying on the field lately seems like a total waste for a guy whose 38 and on verge of having to retire.That contract at 32 was the stupidest thing I have ever seen.Now he’s a player till 42 and he’s making a boatload of money for basically doing completely nothing.Seemed like an insane idea at the time that they did it.Should have just let him leave the first time when he opted out just stupid that they decided to resign a guy whose really a huge bust after that huge contract that was also over 300 million dollars.

Yeah agreed don’t see them budging for a 5th year at all I think they’ll do what I’ve been hearing which is saving money and going after Greinke and skipping out on the bat.They will probably figure the pitching will help them more and that they have enough offense without Hamilton to win.

The Rangers being so active towards Hamilton just boggles my mind, unless this dude is leaving a lot of money on the table in order to return AND is willing to go no further than 4 years in contract length. Otherwise, they’re doing nothing but throwing a lot of money at a single piece that is going to set them back financially and will almost assuredly never live up to the weight of a 9-figure contract.

I hope the Angels spend that freed up Hunter, Haren, Santana money on Grienke and locking up Trout. They have about $110 on the books judging by Cots right now. The payroll was $151 last year so there’s some real wiggle room there.
