Why not sign both. They have the cash, desperately need starting pitching, contend in one tough division, need to make a splash, probably wont have to over pay too much if at all. Seems the Red Sox are so gun shy right now on starting pitching. Beckett and Lackey failed and were paid top dollar, but not paying for top pitching in that division assures mediocrity.

Glad to see that having to endure Jon Lackey has forced them to come to their senses. Either one of these guys would certainly help the rotation, assuming Buchholz and Lester can be healthy and solid.

Now this is what I’m talking about the Red Sox are back to “looking at” players. I guess signing guys like David Ross, Jonny Gomes and Mike Napoli for either more years or more money or in some case(s) both then they are worth has worn out the Red Sox hierarchy.
