I always liked Shierholtz when he was with the Giants, under the right circumstances, (like in Boston) I think he could have been a pretty solid major league regular, maybe even an all-star. He’s still young enough to put together a pretty good career. I’ll be rooting for him. He seems like a good guy.

The Cardinals wouldn’t have been interested, they are chock full of left handed bats and have far better corner OF options.

Seems like a solid contract for both. Cubs get a safe RF if the spects dont work out and he gets PT to try to get a better deal later. Decent chance he can get flipped for something after an injury and net the Cubs a spect.

Was hoping the Cards could get him for their 4th OF, but this makes a lot more sense for him.
