anxovies, the thing is Mustelier is mostly on outfielder. He’s only played 26 games with 51 chances at 3rd base and only 11 of those chances at 3rd base. And yes he is older at 28 he’s much older then most of the players in Triple A that’s probably why his numbers are better. Adams is younger (25) more athletic and a natural infielder. And if you check out Adams numbers they aren’t to shabby in Double A: .306 BA / .385 OBP / .450 SLG / .834 OPS and like I said earlier he had a great AFL this year. If Adams can keep it together for 1 more year I think he has a bright future with the Yankees. There are 2 possibilities for Adams with the Yankees:
1st) Should the Yankees decide NOT to re-sign Cano at whatever Boras’s contract demands are Adams can play 2nd base.
2nd) Depending on A-Rod’s health/injuries and how much he can play 3rd base Adams is a very, very adequate sub to spell A-Rod and could eventually take over 3rd base full time, in my opinion.

I think Ronnier Mustelier is a better pick than Adams. He is older, more experienced and a much better hitter.

I would not be surprised to see David Adams in a Yankee Uniform for the 2014. He spent some time in Double A this past season and he had a great AFL. Would expect if his progress continues to see him split time in Double and Triple A in 2013 and possibly see him in spring training for the 2014 Yankees as A-Rod’s back up. Just my opinion.

Actually it’s the sound of Red Sox nation saying “Who gives a sh!t” Middlebrooks is much better at this stage. If Middlebrooks didn’t get hit by the pitch he could have been close to a 25/80 guy. He had 15/54 in only 75 games He has not been a healthy or productive player in over 2 years. Even with Chavez’ injury history a platoon of he and Nunez would have been more productive. Youkilis gave it his all and had so many under the radar great seasons but it was clear he was at the end of the line as far as being an offensive threat. No shame in that. He just got older and injury prone. He started off a house of fire with the CWS but then settled in and his final average was .237 – that’s about what he is now.

For a few years there, I really loved Youk. But I think the Yankees would be crazy to think he can play third regularly (or well, for that matter). And, in the long run, Youkilis might be making a mistake to trade in his good reputation in Boston by going to New York. There’s some post-career endorsements that might be lost with a single year in New York.

This deal doesn’t make sense to me, on either side. But I suppose it’s plausible. Third basemen are hard to find.

Yeah, but you’re still going to need a 3rd baseman for ’14. Keppinger at that price seemed like a decent deal. It’s not like they have someone in the minors ready to step in for A-Rod.

A-Rod will be coming back from hip surgery how can you believe he can swing a bat and field, you need a good hip to do that stuff on a regular, he will be the DH

It will be fun if he signs with the Yankees and watch the Sox players and fans reaction. Also, he will get plenty of playing time with the Yankees. Through July he will play most of the games at 3rd base. Between the surgery and then the rehab i wouldn’t think A-Rod will be back until after the All Star game at the very soonest. Even after that I’m thinking A-Rod will spend more time DH’ing then playing third. And yes he probably will spell Tex some at first probably after the All Start break.

He’s a good choice on a 1 year deal a bit more money then probably they should pay but like a previous poster said the Yankees aren’t really that concerned about their payroll for the 2013 season it’s 2014 that the edict has been handed down to get under the Luxury Tax Threshold.

We’ll have to see if 1 year is acceptable to Youkilis.

If he plays well, he should continue to get playing time. If he sucks, probably not ( but maybe, depending on injuries and other options). The Yankees are stocked every year and still end-up playing AAAA players. The Yankees aren’t going to sit him if he’s performing. So he should try to stay healthy and not suck, and it will all work out for him.
