Who is this “we” that you’re speaking for? You’re not speaking for me, so you must be begging the question. You assume that it’s bullshit that he has to pre-hab, prior to surgery. You know no such thing.

Have you ever had any prolonged personal contact with Alex Rodriguez, i.e., have you spent a few weeks with the guy? If you haven’t, then how do you know that he’s selfish, egotistical, money hungry, etc, etc.? The fact is, that you don’t know any of those things with certainty, and if you don’t know any of those things with certainty, then you don’t have any special insights into Al’s personality. You only know what you see on TV.

Why don’t you just admit that you’re a hater, and stop trying to justify yourself?

My point of view is that Rodriguez doesn’t want to laid up during the holidays. He will get his money whether he plays or not. So if he manages to recuperate enough to help his team, which I doubt, he will have cost them over a month of his services. We all know it is bullshit that he has to recover his strength for the operation! Hell he is a professional athletic in tip top shape. He was physically fit to play in the pre world series games.

Still the selfish egotistical, money hungry grubber he has always been. If he gave a damn about the game and his obligations to the team, management and fans he would go under the knife the day after he got the second opinion in order to have the quickest recovery to get back to the team that is paying him millions.

It’s great that Alex gets to enjoy his holidays and chillax and then only 1 month before spring training stars he’s going to have surgery. Shows a reall sense of urgency to his teamates that he can’t wait to get back in there and compete. …also if I am the rep from the insurance company I am watching this and thinking “Oh yes lets start writing up that 30 million check for A-fraud’s 2013 salary now.” It’s not like he’s agressively planning to get back sooner instead of later.

Oh I absolutely agree Pisano. I’m not sure whether it’s greed or ego or just a form of insanity but to me it skews the competitive balance to the detriment of the game. The AP contract just seemed absurd but you could nt blame AP for taking it, although all things considered you have to wonder whether or not he is kicking himself too. Cards offered huge $$ and he owned the city.
But, I think you are right about LA kicking themselves sooner rather than later, in fact Albert is statistically already in decline and will be 33 next month.

AROD will certainly go downas one of the greatest to ever play the game but the aging process respects no one and is highly predictable. All probability dictates that his best years are by far in the past. Sad to see the Yanks on the hook for all that payroll and hard to fathom what they were thinking –Hope the Angles are paying attention because 3-4 years down the road we will likely see this story play out again with Albert.

They just discovered this hip problem 2 weeks ago. This isn’t the hip that he’s had previously repaired. In fact, during the playoffs, he underwent an MRI on the previously damaged hip because they believed that was the problem. It came back clean. No one suspected his good hip was the problem.

It is also not uncommon to try to strengthen an are pre-op. the muscles will atrophy during recovery. This way, he will have an easier time rehabbing. I’m pretty sure the dr’s and medical care givers would prefer to wait until after the holidays, anyway.

So its December, the season has been over for months. He knew his hip was having problems in what, July. How is it this week we discover he need surgery and only now is he starting to build up strength for a mid January surgery? Does Arod really want to play baseball anymore? Do the Yankees even want him in their lineup? Because it sure seems to me like he is being handled as badly as possible, and it may be by his own design or the Yankees design to keep him off the field.
