No way Hamilton would hit 5th behind Utley n Howard!! Hamilton is one of THE BEST hitters in ALL of baseball. You don't bat him 5th and limit his AB's n RBI oppertinities. Your best hitter hits 3rd. Utley is not an elite hitter at this stage of his career. He is better suited for the 2 hole. Here is an idea for a lineup altough it is extremely lefthanded heavy, both Revere and Hamilton hit LHP well. This also has Charlie realizing that Rollins is not a leadoff guy. All he does is swing for the fences so hit him 6th. I would also seriously start thinking about platooning Howard vs LHP. He just can't him them to save his life, and shows NO signs of improvment.

Revere
Utley
Hamilton
Howard
Young
Rollins
Ruf
C

But this will never happen I could see Charlie doing this to open the season.

Im starting to look at Rube as just another Howie Roseman... someone who really knows nothing about building a team and just goes after the biggest name. Seriously what has the guy done to make the team better? He has completely drained the farm system for 1 year or half year rentals that have no future with the team. And when he has traded our players away they have gotten nothing in return. The only deal he has made that was any good was for Halladay and that was a trade that even a person that knows the bare minimum about baseball could have made. Remember it was Gillick and gulp Ed Wade that built the championship team. Rube got the keys the next season and the Phillies have gotten worse each year since. His only strength is getting ownership to spend money and even that can be credited to Gillick bc his team got the win and gave ownership the want for more.

Hamilton in citizens bank would be scary especially with howard behind him. The phillies window is closing so Hamilton for four years would go a long way in helping them get to at least one more world series before retirement sets in for the aging phils. As a mets fan go to Seattle they are bringing in the fences!

Ruben we desperatly need to add this guy in the middle of the lineup. No way EVER should Rollins lead your team in HR a la 2012. Its not 2008-2009. Utley isnt a 3 hitter anymore n Howard couldnt hit a LHP if the ball was on a tee. Adding 30-45HR n 120+ RBI could go a long way. The reward outweighs the risk. Every player has risks some greater then others. But Hamilton is one of the 5 best hitters in all of baseball, not adding him to a "win now" team would be a mistake.

I tend to agree with a previous poster who stated Heyman is rarely right nowadays as he seems to have gone the Adam schefter and Chris mortensen route of spewing a lot of nonsense to generate buzz regardless if it's completely off base. He used in his analysis of the Yankees signing Youkilis that the fact that he was a red sox would dissuade him from becoming a Yankee and just out right dismissed the idea because Heyman thought of him as a red sox. Two days later Yankees offer Youk a contract.

Not a Pirates fan but I quasi-root for them every year to finally break through. Pirates fans don't need to dream about mega players like Hamilton. You have to crawl before you walk. How about getting that management to just somewhat go for it once in a while and do a REAL trade at the deadline or just sign a couple realistic free agents here and there in the offseason. The ownership is a joke. The Pirates have their cute run every season and the trade deadline comes and ownership never makes a move to really go for it in that given season under the bullshit premise that they want to build through the system and not give up any young pieces. And 20 years later.......
