I’m not sure it is. The reports had Cleveland’s offer at between $16 and $18MM for 2 year. Reynolds contract is as I understand it for $6MM guaranteed and $1.5MM in incentives. While that’s less on are year bases then what the initial reports had for Clevelands Youkilis offer I don’t think it’s a great lower. Also there are reports today that offer for 2 years for Youkilis has been OFF the table for awhile now. Also It would seem to me that the Indians are committed to their in house option for 3rd base and with Reynolds primarily there 1st baseman now that would really only leave Youkilis as their DH if he were to sign there. I think we call all assume that as a DH Youkilis isn’t going to command a lot of money. At lease that’s my opinion. So while it’s not a lock that he will sign with the Yankees, I believe their chances are better today they they were a couple of days ago.
