This is true, but there’s a giant issue overlooking this comparison in that Young, while inferior, is almost guaranteed to give you a full year’s worth of PA/defense. Who knows if Chavez can stay healthy the entire year if he’s given a full time role? I can’t find the link anymore, but there was a post linked on riveraveblues.com that talked about the almost full day workout he has to do to keep his back warm so he doesn’t injure himself. If he’s starting a 7pm game, he gets up at 8am to start getting ready. It’s insane.

Also there is the concern about Youngs home road splits. Jay Jaffe wrote a nice piece the other day that suggested CBP will hurt Young’s offensive production while Arlington actually helped.

I just wish people would realize that Michael Young is clearly worse then Kevin Frandsen, and that in the history of baseball, there is zero instances of a player leaving an unhappy situation an rebounding.
