Youk will be a huge upgrade over A-roid. He is on the downside of his career, but he won’t choke like a dog every time the game is on the line and he’s at the plate.Oh, and he’ll give it everything he has every game,from April through the playoffs. I wish him success,except against Boston.

Youk was loyal to the Boston fans. Ownership made their decision, but Youk graciously thanked the fans for their support over the years. I will never boo this man, despite the pinstripes.

Over the last three years, Youk has played 102, 122 and 120 games. I think this is a stupid pickup by the Yankees. They need someone to keep the seat warm until A-Rod returns. Someone who can play adequate third (probably true, though I’d consider Youk to be below average there) is more important than having an adequate hitter, given that the Yankees basically led baseball in offense last year (finishing 4 runs behind Texas while leading them in OPS by 10 points; it’s a wash).

Make the reasonable assumption that Youkilis again will miss a third of the season: there’s a 66 percent chance they still need a third baseman until A-Rod returns.

I know how you feel ,but the Red Sox decided to back up Bobby Valentine despite Youk’s years of service to them.It’s going to be hard seeing him in pinstripes,but hey, I thought the world was coming to an end the day Wade Boggs put on a Yankee uniform,it worked out well for him although it was a jagged dagger through the hearts of Red Sox fans!

Great! with one $12 Million check, the Yankees manage to get older AND weaker in one fell swoop.

Youkilis on paper is an acceptable stopgap at 3rd base. Youkilis in reality is going to spend most of the year on the DL and be a shell of what he was when he is playing.

But hey, at least the 2014 budget plan is on track. That’s a great consolation.

Youk is a guy that doesn’t dog it and gives you 100% every game and I think he will do well with the Yanks. How about this scenario….bottom of the ninth…bases loaded with two outs…who would you rather have at bat…A-Rod or Youk?…I’ll take Youk it that spot.

You’re absolutely right. Youkilis busted his @ss for the Red Sox for years and helped bring them 2 World Series championships, then they repaid him by trashing him to the media and trading him. You’re right, there is no loyalty anymore.

There have been a slew of players who have worn both uniforms. Baseball is a business, guys go where the money flows. He’s not the first prominent player to make the switch. For anyone who is in their late 30s or older, Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens were big names that went to the Yankees after playing in Beantown. Roger did after a stint with the Blue Jays. However, it will be odd seeing Youk in a Yankee uniform. He was never the best player on his team but he was always one of the hardest workers and most beloved players to don the Red Sox uniform. I would never boo him and hope that nobody in Boston does either but who am I kidding, it’s going to happen at some point during the season.

What news. As a Red Sox fan (who is trying to hang in there after two difficult years), still feel badly what happened last year. Youk is all heart for the game and deserves all the best, and best chances to play. Not to mention, he was a great man who offered much of himself to the city of Boston area through his various causes and charity. We are proud of him. Hoping NYC can be okay for him. This deal makes a lot of sense. It’s an interesting move to NY. Will certainly add more fun to the games with Boston. Wish him all good luck.

Youk doesn’t deserve boo birds in Boston, even coming back as a Yankme. Its not his fault he was in a slump and butted heads with the joke of a manger they had at the time, that ended with him being traded.

Good pickup for the Yanks. They don’t need anyone (or want anyone) past this year, so getting him on a slight overpay to keep it at one year makes sense. And Youkilis is probably the best option they had, although that’s partly because it’s such a rough year for FA 3B.

He’s not a particularly good fit for the stadium, and his defense has taken a hit, and he can’t seem to stay healthy, but there’s still a lot of upside there, upside he doesn’t need to justify the deal.

Be sad to see one of my favorite players a Yankee, but Boston has a good young 3B now, and that’s just business, huh?

Day 60 ish and still no Swisher signing. Swish alone could bring the average age of the team down by at least 1.5 years. Bring Swisher BACK.

See Knicks Exhibit A for nursing home old players champions. First place is sweet, I’m happy with got Ichiro too, old players know what to do on the field and avoid off field problems like DUI, nasty comments on eye black, strip clubs at 3:00 AM, etc. Go Yankees and Knicks.2013 is all good.

Yes, a roster that’s basically the same as the one that had the 3rd best record in the Major Leagues last year and one of only 4 Major League teams left standing at the LCS in 2012. Just imagine how good they would be if they weren’t as you say “washed up”.
