It is pointless to become overly concerned with the Mets as long as the Wilpons are at the throttle. Their stewardship has been a disaster. The only reason we got Mike Piazza was the insistence of Doubleday when he still had a share of the team and without Piazza the Wilpon's tenure would have been a very long walk in the desert. For a brief moment it looked like we might finally be rid of them and then some judge let them off the hook and now the only hope is that they remain terrible and attendence will not pay off the bonds and they'll have to sell - From my lips to Gods ears.

Craig,

Spot on. I'm actually amazed at the amount of Mets fans actually attempting to discredit the Post. If you have followed the Mets for any extended period of time, particularly the Wilpons, you know this sort of thing is right up their alley. From the A-Rod negotiations way back when, to Wilpon trashing his best players in a magazine profile, and now this.

The Mets have unfortunately served as an opportunity for born on third base Jeff Wilpon's y to assert himself in this world in some meaningful capacity. He is, by and large, a dimwit, and we're all worse off for it.

No, no, no, Stex, are you mad? I will not allow this to happen. He basically no hit the Rays last season. Dickey must not leave the NL. Don't the Dodgers need a 23rd starter? Or is it 24th? I've lost count.

The Mets will extend his contract. Extending his contract at a below market rate would actually increase his trade value. If they choose to keep him, they'll recoup their investment. It's a no brainer. Then again, these are the Mets were talking about.
