Why would anyone have trusted Hamilton’s word? He is an addict, and has been lying all of his adult life. I’m really glad the Rangers did not sign him under any scenario, but a little upset that they did not make it impossible for Greinke to sign with the Dodgers. Pitching is still the name of the game.

The guy was ready to leave Texas. I think he needed to leave Texas.

As his agent, I wouldn’t have told Texas either until the last moment. After all, if you take Texas out of the running, his stock drops precipitously. Smart business move on behalf of his agent.

However, I’m just and average fan and I would have bet my life Hamilton wouldn’t go back to Texas. For Texas management to not have a clue seems like they weren’t really paying attention – or just hoping against hope.

Hate to it but Trout will never get close to what these guys have gotten if he continues to play like he does. Yep, it’s great he plays balls out every play, but in reality he’ll have to shut it down some if he wants to play for a huge deal.

Ryan and Daniels were simply posturing to reduce fan backlash for not resigning him, Anybody who watched Hamilton every day the last 4 months KNOWS why they didn’t resign him. He declined DRASTICALLY right before their eyes, and the hot start in April and May was a distant memory when he quit on the team down the stretch, They let him walk, just like CJ Wilson, because they know his best days are long gone. His addiction and mental problems are only going to get worse. He can’t HIT anymore. Check his stats from JUNE 1 to the end of the year. What you see is pathetic, especially when you factor in his lack of effort. He is a quitter and an excuse maker. Good riddance. He will soon be sitting on the Anaheim bench next to Vernon Wells. The Angels deserve him lol.

I actually now will expect to see some aging veterans take less pay to go there.

I’m having trouble following you. Especially the “grow up” part. And your claims that I am just chosing to believe a certain writer (Do you mean the one that wrote this post?)

The Rangers were told early and often that they would have a chance to match. I don’t see the contract amount changes that. Negiotiations with Hamilton were surely centered around this idea. Why not see what the market is, and drop out when the cost is greater than the expected benefit? Instead what the Rangers presumed to be an open-auction was ended without warning. It shouldn’t be too difficult to see why JD is less than thrilled about how this played out.

There is no right to match with 125 million. Grow up. Whatever the writer wrote, that you believe was true went out the window with 125 million. Do you really believe that?
