Daniels is just posturing for the fans to eliminate backlash. They had a front row seat to watch this guy decline right before their eyes for 4 months. They didn’t WANT him back, period, or they would have signed him. His pathetic act wore thin, and when his talent turned to crap…look at June and July, and then add in his ‘quit factor, taking himself out of the lineup during the stretch run…you will see why they don’t want to sign a pathetic head case who is closer to Vernon Wells than Mike Trout.

The Rangers would sign Hamilton for 2 years maybe at upwards of 20 mill but Josh didn’t go back to them because he knew the answer. 2 years is a long time with Josh – he had 2 events this year alone that took him out of the game. His final games were pathetic. His overall stats were average. He isn’t worth 25 mil a year but maybe to the Angels he is.

Mr. Strikeout with runners in scoring position Hamilton was an integral part of those late season losses. There are much better hitters out there at a fraction of his price.
He’s not worth half what he got from the Angels which is what he got in 2012 and didn’t hardly ever deliver in the clutch. Besides the Rangers have a strong team without him.

Poor Jon Daniels is upset that Hamilton signed and didn’t give them a chance to match. Give me a break. You put a guys major life decision on hold for weeks while you try and trade for Upton, which in turn would have meant you send Josh Hamilton packing. That falls through and all of a sudden Hamilton is supposed to check in with you now before he makes his decision? Deal with it Daniels, you jagoff. Not an Angels fan. It’s just funny how how Daniels is so “disappointed” in how it was handled yet he had no problem making it obvious that they only wanted Hamilton if they couldn’t get Upton yet Hamilton has to show some form of loyalty to them.

He certainly fits the mold of a middle of the lineup hitter, but he also fits the mold of a leadoff hitter too. Like you said, I think he can succeed at either. I do think he’ll stick at leadoff, at least for another year.

People can press the panic button all they want, but with a farm system that includes Perez, Olt, and Profar. Who cares if we come in second or third in the division, were set for year to come with out farm system.

If they don’t win the WS within 3 years it’s gonna be real ugly as far as team payroll goes. With all that committed money going to guys who will be breaking down (Pujols & Hamilton) I find it difficult to see where they get the money to pay Trout long term. They should have given that money to Greinke because they would be a heck of a lot more dangerous with the Wearver/Greinke combo rather than what they just did.

Pitching goes farther…just look at the Giants.

Trout hit leadoff last year. I think he may be the leadoff hitter again. He did a great job of it last year. I don’t know though. If I were Sciosca, I would personally put the top 5 like this:

Pujols
Hamilton
Kendrys
