AP Thankfully, we finally have some big news today.
Bobby Wilson, who’s spent the past few seasons as a backup catcher for the Angels, has signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees.
New York is searching for catching help following the departure of Russell Martin, but Wilson merely adds to their collection of backup-caliber backstops and has little chance for significant playing time even if he cracks the roster.
Through age 29 he’s hit .208 with a .593 OPS in 191 games as a big leaguer.

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a dozen times, you can never have to many back up catchers. Maybe the Yankees can trade him for a “reclamation” project.

Obviously they are going to do some kind of Vulcan-hoodoo-vivisection melding of all their backups, and come out of it with one superstar Franken-catcher who plays for league minimum. Think about it. If you add all of their averages, OPS’ etc, you get a really good player. This will work because Cashman is a ninja in an elf outfit. Or something like that.
Bring on Dr. Moreau.
