There is absolutely zero reason not to give him what he wants. You can just watch the games and see how his teammates absolutely love him.

Cy Young caliber pitcher and a great clubhouse guy. Give him what he wants and deserves Mo. Don’t screw this up.

The real difference (even if it is not recognized from Wainwright’s perspective) beteen him and Greinke is that Greinke will be 29 during the entire first year of his deal and Wainwright will turn 33 during the first year of his….so…hopefully, 5 years is as much as he is looking for.

5 years is fine, mutually beneficial.

This will come down to total $$ and if anyone thinks an higher AAV over shorter time will get it done is crazy.

I suspect the floor will be 100 mil over 5 if they get it done early, if not…well, it’ll be well north of that and not in STL.
