Even if both Hamilton and Punols are very good an decline only a little from year to year the Angels are paying them based on thei best years with the Rangers and Cardinals respectively. I guess it might balance out though since they’ll be paying Trout next to nothing while he continues to ascend.

If you look at his record, he’s only been worth $25M during one year of his career, 2010. The last 2 years he’s been very good, but a LOT of guys without the name recognition have been better. Heck, Yadier Molina has been equal to the offensive force of Hamilton, and far more valuable because of his defense…and guys like Konerko and Gordon have been better than Hamilton.

For a guy hitting over 40 homers a year to walk 43, 39, and at most 60ish times a year means I highly doubt he will be worth the money coming to him. Albert Pujols’ least amount of walks in a season would be Hamiltons second most and I sense this contract going closer to the way of the Ryan Howard contract: really great power hitter who is going to age poorly
