I bet they are willing to get essentially nothing for him if they can dump any of his salary at all. This move would be mind-blowingly stupid if Soriano is actually available for a mid-level prospect and the Cubs are willing to eat all but $10M of his remaining salary, as rumored.

Honestly I dont want him at all Id rather give D Brown and Ruf every at bat possible. Instead of having Wells start in either left or right and make Brown and Ruf platoon or worse send Ruf down. Like Francisco (FC) said the roster spot is more valuable.

I really hope this move doesn’t come to fruition. Vernon Wells has been absolutely stealing money from the Angels and Blue Jays. Hell John Mayberry Jr would be a more viable option. RAJ just sign Cody Ross he’ll give you 20 hrs at CBP, and clutch hits in October. I’d much rather trade Dom Brown (plus whatever) for Soriano than whatever we’d give up for Wells. The only way I’d be happy with Wells is if LA covers $20 mil (this year and next) and we only have to give up a low grade minor leaguer or two. Otherwise it’s a complete waste of money and assets.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I can stand Michael Young. Hell, I could stand Cody Ross despite the lingering vitriol I have for him due to the 2010 NLCS. But when the **** did Amaro decide to go full-on Brian Cashman and just throw money at any and all possible problems when throwing money at the problem is clearly not the best solution?

If these are our best remaining options, just let Darrin Ruf and Domonic Brown play.

If Ruben Amaro seriously ends up getting Vernon f**king Wells to platoon in the outfield, I will rescind my allegiance to the Phils.
