Ely is a depth option. But not a bad idea. That was a problem I had with the way they got rid of pitchers early last year. Their young arms all started petering out and getting shut down toward the end. If you don’t have any dominant pitchers, you need a lot of workhorses and some guys who can swing.

Harrell, Lyles, Norris, Keuchel, Cosart, Humber, and a few prospects they are high on. They will give that group ample opportunities.

I forsee long middle relief chances for Ely… And a lot of them.
