Just don’t ask him to instruct the 2nd basemen how to throw to 1st, 2nd, 3rd base or home plate. The Diamondbacks won’t be able to execute anything between super difficult double plays to routine ground outs (code: ANYTHING).

While Sax gets a lot of crap about that, he did overcome it. Something many other famous “yips” sufferes were never able to do. The problem occurred in 1983, he corrected it and he’d enjoy 10 more years as a 2nd baseman.

Fun side notes from the commentary track of that episode:
1. Don Mattingly was not okay with the fact that Steve Sax got to be in a jazz trio while he was found washing dishes.

2. Everyone was a real pleasure to work it, with the exception of one player whose name rhymes with “Manseco”. Apparently they had to re-write his scene that causes him to miss the big game. It was originally going to be him waking up in bed next to Edna Krabapple.

I heard a guy got killed in NYC once, and they never found who did it. But I guess Sax wouldn’t know anything about that, would he?
