While I doubt we will see him in the big leagues again for any consistent stretch, I think he is a good example that sometimes we can get too bogged down with numbers. His 2006 numbers aren’t incredible, yet he had a very good season.

He also came up big that year the playoffs. Clinched a playoff series win; a series no one picked the Tigers to win. I recall Fox doing promos setting the stage for a subway series before a single ALDS game was played.
