The Marlins are obviously only worried about the future at this point. They got some pretty good young talent in the blockbuster this offseason, they have one of the best sluggers in the majors now and for years to come, and they play in arguably the best division in the NL. They saw just how hard it is to buy a contender last year, so they are pretty much starting over from scratch.

If you are going to build a team around one player, Giancarlo Stanton isn't the worst choice. He is one of the rare talents in the Majors that makes other All Star calibur players come out of the clubhouse to watch the kid take batting practice. He is just pure power. The craziest thing...he isn't done developing. He will only be 23 this year!

I wish there was ANY possible way for the Phillies to get him, because he is EXACTLY what they need. It's absolutely impossible, but I can still dream, right?

Miami and Tampa both have terrible attendance and here is why. People come down here from the north and stay loyal to their teams. Miami is a perfect example. Millions of people, a beautiful stadium and nothing but Yankee fans living there. This will never change. It's a real shame. The only time we fill up the stadium are when the Yankees and Red Sox come to town.

The Royals possibly planned to start him at Omaha next season, so him starting at Durham is really the same idea. KC and TB two similar small market franchises, the only difference is the level of success each team has had in the past five seasons.
No way to know how Myers will do in the bigs. I do know that anyone who was with the Royals seemed to have more success away from them. Examples are Zach Greinke and Carlos Beltran.

Very true. Sad when the players have to ask the team to give away seats or sell them at a very deeply discounted price just so that they can play in front of a larger crowd once in a while.
Read a newspaper article recently that mentioned that the Cubs lowest paid attendance for a single game last season was a gate that had over 28,000 fans (even if some don't show up, as they may be corporate tickets). Their average attendance was much higher. Many teams would kill to have an average attendance of that, and the Cubs made this "lowest attendance" with one of the worst teams in baseball.
Tampa just doesn't draw fans, despite a good team. Hopefully Wil Myers will do well again in triple A and reach the pro level by June.

They are intentionally team-friendly deals, are you disputing that? Sure, he RE-signed a nice deal that will pay him market value, maybe slightly less.

But Myers will be asked to sign a deal simalar to Matt Moore. A deal, very likely, Moore will regret when he is 28,29,30 and is seeing his counterparts hit free agency and sign 100+ Million Dollar deals.

Sure, If Moore's shoulder tears off, it will have been a great deal for him. And if Myers becomes a bust then he would also be happy he took it.
