Merry Christmas from HBT

Dec 25, 2012, 12:01 AM EDT

source:

I suppose it’s theoretically possible that someone might sign a player or otherwise make news in the baseball world today, but if history tells us anything it tells us that such a thing is unlikely. If something does happen, however, rest assured that one of us will find the time to say at least a few words about it. In the meantime, though, we’re spending time with our families and stuff like that.

We hope you are too. But if that’s just not in the cards today, spend some time in the comments to this post telling your fellow HBT readers what you think of them. But not how you do it most days. Say some nice things for a change. It’s Christmas for cryin’ out loud.

OK, fine. If you can’t think of something nice to say, say what you feel like saying anyway. Christmas is great and all, but we don’t expect it to change who you are. And, for whatever reason, we like you the way you are.

Merry Christmas, HBT Nation.

Sincerely,

The Management

December 24th is forever a day that will live in infamy in Brewers fans hearts. It was the day we gave $44 million to Mr. Jeff Suppan. Mother of God.

    Merry Christmas HBT

On a more somber note, former Rangers owner Brad Corbett passed away.

    Merry Christmas everybody!

  11. tuberippin - Dec 25, 2012 at 1:50 AM

    Dear Santa,

If you are reading this, please don’t let Ruben Amaro sign any more aging players to expensive long-term contracts.

I left cookies, milk, and a subscription to Baseball Prospectus on the counter.

    Your friend,
    tuberippin

Enjoy the time with family/friends, and SAFE TRAVELS everyone! Best wishes and merry christmas.

  13. townballblog - Dec 25, 2012 at 2:11 AM

Thanks, Craig. Merry Christmas to all of you guys (management) and yours, and Merry Christmas and happy holidays to HBT.

    Dear Santa,
Can we fast-forward to Spring Training?

  14. jmp527 - Dec 25, 2012 at 2:13 AM

This is Craig’s best article ever

It was a last minute attempt to get off the naughty list

  15. raysfan1 - Dec 25, 2012 at 2:28 AM

“Some assembly required” toys are forthwith banned from my household. I am also declaring a wrapping cease fire for tonight.

With that, a heart felt “Merry Christmas!” to all and to all a good night!

  16. hooks024 - Dec 25, 2012 at 4:12 AM

merry 3 months and 3 days till Jesus’ birthday HBT nation!

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Dec 25, 2012 at 1:38 PM

Say what? We grownups should understand that no one has any idea when Jesus was born, but on the 1 in 365 chance it was today, Happy/Merry Christmas to all.
And to fans of each of the 30 teams, may your favorites bring you (at least) 162 days of joy in 2013, regardless of the final scores.
      Peace y’all.

Good tidings and a prosperous Sol Invictus Day! All hail the Unconquerable Sun!

  18. kiwicricket - Dec 25, 2012 at 4:44 AM

I see Santa failed to make my family less irritating…

    Merry Christmas all

    • Old Gator - Dec 25, 2012 at 9:41 AM

He’s no damned good at that at all.

      • Francisco (FC) - Dec 25, 2012 at 1:36 PM

I think you’re confused, nowhere in Santa’s contract is it stipulated he supposed to do that. All he signed was a 10 year $450 million extension to keep piling up those presents under trees every year.

  19. sdelmonte - Dec 25, 2012 at 5:54 AM

JWBill noted the passing of Brad Corbett. I would also add the sad news of Jack Klugman’s passing. While was not a baseball man, he is of course best known for playing TV’s biggest Mets booster, Oscar Madison.

    • deepstblu - Dec 25, 2012 at 12:00 PM

Charles Durning, another fine actor, has died. His baseball connections? He was in Resurrection: The J.R. Richard Story, a 2005 film that I didn’t know existed and, from the looks of things, hardly anybody else did either. He also appeared in a Showtime production of Bleacher Bums in 2001 and played the title role of Casey Stengel in a 1981 Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation.

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Dec 25, 2012 at 1:46 PM

Both Klugman (who was the last of the 12 Angry Men) and Durning were also World War II veterans, so one last salute from us all to both gentlemen at their final curtain.

  20. proudlycanadian - Dec 25, 2012 at 6:15 AM

  24. jaysjunkie - Dec 25, 2012 at 8:16 AM

Merry Christmas to all at HBT and its readers. I’m very happy to have stumbled upon this site earlier this baseball season and it quickly became and remained a daily online stop.

  25. theonlynolan - Dec 25, 2012 at 8:45 AM

    Merry Christmas all. Enjoy it.
