jollyjoker- Maybe a little harsh but you are right. A.J. has put up great numbers and would have been a much better fit in MN. Mauer is the most overpaid player in the league and now the owner who cried for his stadium refuses to spend any money to put a team around him. I can’t wait for the day we trade him to the Yankees. Slap single hitters are a dime a dozen, not $25 million a year.
A.J. is still one of my all time favorites!

chicago should appreciate him. I in mn got stuck with mauer who has “weak leg” syndrome or some other ailment every year nor can he hit any home runs. Yet he gets 25 million a year to act like a smug retard.

Getting rid of Young is a bright spot. He is not good at baseball anymore.

Not paying Hamilton $125M over the next 5 years is also a bright spot.

When you have the system depth of a team like the Rangers, what you don’t need to do is overpay for names that are not as good as their reputations.

I find it interesting as a Twins fan when he gets booed here in MN. On one hand, he was a huge part of the Twins’ winning ways in the 00′s, and he brought the Twins Nathan and Liriano (and Boof Bonser) in a trade. On the other hand, he is known for his difficulties with pitchers and umpires and is generally very skilled at getting under people’s skin. A polarizing figure for sure.

This guy is/was the very definition of a “polarizing figure”. If he played for your team, you absolutely loved him. If he played for the other team, you hated his guts. You’ll be missed AJ. Good luck in Texas.

A.J. Pierzynski is hands down the best catcher to play for the White Sox since Carlton Fisk. He will truly be missed in Chicago.

About the only bright spot this off-season for the Rangers. Pierzynski 1 year 7.5 million vs. the departed Napoli (with medical issues) 3 year 36 million.
