I had rather hoped he would consider coaching at Rice and returning to his (now) home in Houston. But I don’t have 10 MM$ in my pocket. And it honestly doesn’t make sense for the Astros to dump a load of money on him, no matter how popular he is.

The only strong argument I can see for Berkman in Houston is Carlos Pena at DH. But I’m not sure the knees support a big investment even so.
