National League Central soccer jerseys

A couple weeks ago I linked to designer Mark Willis’ hypothetical soccer-style jerseys for American League East teams, which were really cool-looking.

And the response was so positive that Willis has decided to create jersey designs for the rest of the MLB teams too, beginning with the National League Central teams today.

His version of a Yadier Molina Cardinals jersey is shown to the right and you should definitely check out his blog for the other designs and his explanations.

Good stuff.

Not bad would definitely wear the Cardinals one. They’re all good designs although the Brewer’s jersey make me think of a Rugby Polo

Yeah, I liked the Cards one. Appropriately, the Cubs one sucked. I can’t wait to see the AL Central ones!

What’s next, Ed Hardy and Affliction?

      Get off my lawn.

Or better yet, get off my “pitch”…

    Good Stuff??
Don’t give those guys who really create ugly fan apparel any ideas of mixing the greatest sport in the world with soccer hooligan crap.

      Shut up, pjmitch.

      • pjmitch - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:45 PM

Are you telling me that as a Baseball fan you would wear something like this?

      • bmh9500 - Jan 2, 2013 at 4:55 PM

As more than a one-dimensional slug, yes. I would wear that.

  3. rwpsych16 - Jan 2, 2013 at 1:28 PM

I thought the Blue Jays one was pretty cool. The one for the reds was awful as was the one for the O’s.

I am still unfamiliar with this “soccer” as to what you speak? Is it a sport?

    • pjmitch - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:46 PM

That’s what I am talking about!

Daniel P isn’t going to like your comment. He will tell you to shut up

      Good one.

It’s called Association Football and it has been around since the 8th Century. It’s actually the most popular sport in the world by quite a large margin. Maybe you should keep up with the times.

Loved the AL East Jerseys he did and these are good too. As a Cards fan I would have rather seen a red jersey. Sad to say I think I liked his take on the Brewers the best out of that bunch. His Blue Jays jersey was the best of the AL East jerseys he did. Cool exercise. Too bad they’ll never be made.

    • umrguy42 - Jan 3, 2013 at 2:28 PM

Yeah, I wasn’t as impressed with the Cards one either. Strange for me to say, but I thought the Reds one had a nice, clean look to it, honestly. And the Pirates one was fun.

  6. cur68 - Jan 2, 2013 at 1:39 PM

That Yadi jersey is pretty sweet. I’d wear that.

    • historiophiliac - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:20 PM

Seriously? It has Budweiser on it. Boooo!

      • cur68 - Jan 2, 2013 at 4:01 PM

Looks like I picked thew wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

      • historiophiliac - Jan 2, 2013 at 4:43 PM

There’s a barbecue joint here in town: Elmer’s. Slogan: “It be bad!”

      • cur68 - Jan 2, 2013 at 4:59 PM

It was a rough place – the seediest dive on the wharf. Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It’s worse than Detroit.

      • historiophiliac - Jan 2, 2013 at 5:02 PM

        So, Houston, then?

  7. sawxalicious - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:01 PM

    Take my money!!!!

  8. jonrox - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:35 PM

MLB needs to partner up with this guy. Even if it is gimmicky, I would love to buy one of these Reds jerseys.

  9. cosanostra71 - Jan 2, 2013 at 2:58 PM

Those Pirate jersey concepts are awesome

    • jarathen - Jan 3, 2013 at 8:16 AM

      Definitely a great design.

  10. brewcrewfan54 - Jan 2, 2013 at 3:36 PM

I’d wear the shit out of that Brewer shirt.

  11. anybodyinhere - Jan 2, 2013 at 4:15 PM

I think the Reds should go for it. If Ryan Braun ever reaches free agency, I think the odds of them signing him go up significantly by putting his name on both the back AND front of his jersey…

  12. goldensombrero3000 - Jan 2, 2013 at 9:21 PM

The Reds one is not as nice as the others. Too much black and can’t we but the Skyline Chili logo on the front?!

Check out this fun free baseball game

Shouldn’t the Cardinals have the bird on ball?

    • jarathen - Jan 3, 2013 at 10:25 AM

      Maybe sitting on the goal.
