Still kind of unclear why the Jays didn't find room for him. He is by no means a flashy pitcher or strikeout artist and was never confused with a "great" reliever, but he's also not one of those relievers that puts up fantastic numbers one year and then sucks for the next three, or who will have a string of weeks where he can't seem to find anything. Dude was just solid; a lunch pail kind of guy. He'd get hit, he'd never blow you away, but he'd show up and put in his inning and it was fine.

That's not at all damning with faint praise, as that is the exact opposite of the prototypical Jays reliever these last several seasons. They have had relievers that are better than Frasor, and a damn lot that were worse, but for nearly all of them, they'd go through stretches where you would moan when they came out to the mound in a tight spot. Frasor, you'd just think "oh, it's still the seventh, and maybe they'll get a run or two off him, but cool, I can handle that". It'd never be a trainwreck, is what I'm saying.

Course, maybe that says more about the mentality of Jays fans regarding our recent bullpens than it does about Frasor.

...and as a side note to this signing Eli Whiteside was DFA by the Rangers to make room for Frasor. Eli Whiteside is quickly becoming a very well traveled player this off season. He's gone from the Giants to the Yankees to the Jays to the Rangers to the unemployed all within just a few months.

Frasor made his home in Toronto, married a Canadian girl and was quoted as saying, "Heck, even my dog is Canadian." He was a loyal and solid citizen for the Blue Jays.
As jaysfan says, when his playing days are over, if he wants it, Beeston and AA will find him a role in the Blue Jay family. Good luck, Jayson.
