You are half right. When the Jays are on the road, US stations do have broadcast rights. Sportsnet only controls their Canadian rights.

Beefy, next day, so I don’t know if you will check this. But yes, I’ve been to opening day. I go back to the opening of the Astrodome in ’65. Houston has become a pretty good baseball town over the years. I don’t think they have the level of sophistication of a Philly or St. Louis (Dead serious) but they are getting there. They expect performance. They know the Astros have done very little to date to change them from the worst team in the league. Maybe opening day is the best shot, since hope always springs. But they did well to get to 15,000 toward the end of the 2012 season, and people are expecting the same team in 2013.

It could be disappointing.

Those Astro fans are plentiful outside of Houston huh?

Houston is a very bad team, and the only reason in the world why they are on opening night is because it’s their 1st game in the AL, end of story.

Since the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets aren’t on tv (unless you have Comcast) it’ll be nice to see the Astros at least once next season. CSN Houston sucks and doesn’t have deals with major carriers

I’m surprised by the choice because there is a high probability the Astros-Rangers game will be poorly attended. Not an image I would want to start with.

Great, so that Red Sox/Yankees game will start at 1:00, probably go till about 6:00, and have a final of 3-2.

And all morning ESPN will hype it up as “THE RIVALRY RENEWED TO KICK OFF 2013!”

Not only that, but Red Sox-Yankees games are never just three hours, so unless ESPN moves the start of the game over to ESPN2, SF and LA fans get hosed.

Not a fan of either team but wouldn’t the defending World Series champs taking on the glitzy new Dodgers make more sense for the marquee, season-opening game?

The Astros? Really? A bottom-feeding team switching to the AL is the angle MLB wants to introduce 2013 with?

Even the Rangers lost their most notable big name star. Weird choice.

I’m glad the Yankees and Red Sox are getting shafted on not being in prime time. Couldn’t happen to better teams who don’t deserve to be on TV. Glad to see other teams get the prime time spots.
