Yank – acting like you’re better and smarter and then lumping all of your fan base together is what make the dickhead Yankee fan movement run. My dad’s a Yankee fan; acts about the same way.

You’re ready to rip Cano, so you will when he goes 0-4 in April in a game they win anyway. It doesn’t make you a better or smarter fan, it makes you a sad, bitter person. Most of the pundits are projecting the Yanks to be 3 or 4 this in the East. Hard to say where you’re getting the rah-rah stuff. I think they’ll end up 1st in the East. That and a quarter will get you a quarter.

Re-evaluate your fandom and see if you can’t enjoy the game rather than being ready to kill your team and players before pitchers and catchers report.

Ezthinking, i’ll explain it to you, in comic book terms since that’s probably how you view whatever team you root for: with great talent comes great paychecks and great responsbility. That means if your team’s best player loafs and sulks and doesn’t seem to care half the year, then hell yes we can rip him.

That doesn’t make Yankee fans bad fans. It makes us aware. It means we hold players as accountable in their jobs as we would be held in our own. We just aren’t myopic and we will call it like we see it.

And I say now that jeter, arod and swish won’t be there to take the heat in the.clubhouse then it will fall to the best player on the field to take the brunt of the fans and the press if he slacks off this year. And I have a feeling that he’ll do exactly that. Excuse the heck out of me for having an opinion on this team that isn’t all ignorant rah-rah blather.

I’ll miss Swish in the Bronx. I’m happy for him and for the Tribe — they’re getting a good player and a good guy. Yankees fans owe Swish a roll call when he comes to the Stadium, like they did for Damon in 2012.

Actually, I am not a Yankees fan, so I am not sure why you put me in that category, but whatever. I am an Indians fan, and am actually excited that Nick is coming to Cleveland. I also was asking why people seem to rip Nick and his postseason shortcomings, along with A-Rod, but does not rip anyone else on the Yankees, since, you know it was a collective failure by the entire TEAM. But that’s okay, because someone else will get ripped when they fail to make it past the ALCS again, if that happens. It’s just the power of the media, I guess. Someone always has to get the blame.

His well chronicled playoff struggles aside, dude will be a fan favorite. He comes to work, does it with a smile on his face and puts up solid numbers (pre-October).

I don’t think anyone expects the Indians to make a serious run at a playoff spot, this year anyways, so Indians fans can at the very least enjoy one of the best “goofballs” in the league for a while.

Holy cow. The Indians new TV deal will make them exactly $7M more in 2013 than their old deal made them in 2012. Part of that (maybe $1M or so) will be offset by getting less money via revenue sharing. The Indians don’t have the money to sign top FAs year after year.

They lost 94 games last year with a -178 run differential (only Houston was worse). They added Swisher, Stubbs, Bauer, Reynolds, and Myers and lost Choo. Even in the horrible AL Central, they look like they’ll be lucky to finish .500.

Swisher went there because the Indians offered him $56 million that nobody else was offering him. And you stated my exact point: if they pay people they will come and that’s the only way. And we all know the Indians don’t pay many people. Players want to win but very few of them will take a pay cut to do so.

Yes they will, you want to know why? Because the Indians offered Nick a boatload of money to come here, it can happen next season, and the next season, and so forth. Not to mention if the teams wins a few more games, then perhaps that intrigues some of the players that want to win. You want to doubt this? The Indians not only brought in the most high profile manager in the game, but NOW they brought in a high price free agent to back it up.

Here’s another thing, Nick credited Terry as someone with instant credibility as to why he came back home. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure when the 2012 season ended, nobody had Francona managing the Indians in 2013, and nobody had Swisher sign with them.

By my calculation that’s $3.5MM per each “excited” (16 excited’s for a $56MM guaranteed payday). If you count the option year of $14MM it’s $4.375MM per each “excited”. Who wouldn’t be excited to be in Cleveland.
