I've been saying this for months. The Braves hate Boris and have used the new rules to their advantage.
No one is going to give up a draft choice and pay 80 plus million for a 30 year old lead off hitter as few of them as they are.
Resigning him will do many things that will change the look of and the outcome of the Braves.
One, Bourn can set all his brain power on being a lead off hitter. He no longer has to try to cary the team on his back when others are not getting it done.
Two, This moves Prado to third where he has been needed for the last few years. If he had been at third the last three years he would be all you would hear about in the National League.
Three, This would be the best out field since Ruth Played. Or DeMaggio. The only team I can remember that may have been better on a whole would be the BIG RED Machine. But this is if they resign Bourn.
And last but not least, This might be the working wonder for Uggla. He just might find he doesn't need to swing for a home run every time he is at bat. This might slow his swing and stop him from pulling everything in site. This would be a right move for a club that has either made the wrong moves or put their hands in the their pockets and done nothing for too many years. GOOOO BRAVES

Don't get the urgency of some fans to extend heyward so soon. Let the kid play thru some of his arb years. He's not a sure thing yet by any means. Better financial move to allow him to develop more than locking yourself in as committing so much money to him this soon in his career.

IMO, better to pay more in the long term by going thru arbitration.... This allows a team to see if the guy is able to develop they way they expect/want before making the long term commitment with him. Would you rather spend 14 million in arbitration for one year or spend 10 million/year for 6-7 years and see him fall off like francour did?

If this can be done in a way that makes financal sense, I'm all for it. Atlanta's pitching is already a strength, and so is most of the defense, but with that trio in the outfield, then Dan Uggla's (admittedly improved) play at second base, along with Brian McCann's difficulty with base stealers (which should improve with the subtraction of Tommy Hanson) would be the only defensive weak spots.

I would be ecstatic if the Braves did re-sign Bourn, as that would be one of the best, if not best, outfield trio in baseball, I just hope they wouldn't overpay.
