Prospects are no guarantee…trust me as a Marlins fan enduring our 3rd fire sale you would be happy with Stanton even at the expense of my earlier proposed trade. So nothing short of Olt/Profar/Perez would even get the Rangers to the table. Mark Cuban please step in and save this franchise!!

Profar/Olt/Perez straight up for Stanton. Allow him to go to Texas and have some success as we reload and look forward to the future. Stanton is a beast one of the most feared hitters in the game and has no diva qualities, any team would love to have him in their line up even yours!

His arbitration would hit regardless. With such short service time, he will still be at a nice bargain. Also, any team willing to send over such an extensive package is more than likely looking to lock him up longer term.

And…I didn’t say career-ending injury.

Just for your information, nothing short of silly is a team that’s going nowhere holding on to a disgruntled player when there are teams I’m sure willing to offer a substantial high end package of players to acquire him. Also, he doesn’t have to have a career ending injury for it to effect his trade value. Any injury has the potential to impact a players value it just depends on the injury.

Secondly, in order to “bat cleanup” there technically has to be someone on base to,well, you know “cleanup”…I am thinking RBI opportunites are going to be more scarce than they were last last year.

Stanton can be unhappy all he wants. Not playing his best will hurt his value, therefore hurt his potential earnings. I see this as a non-issue on the field.

The Marlins being nowhere in a hurry means what, exactly? Trading him now or next year for a king’s ransom has little change on the short-term. The difference is the haul in return. I would argue, his value will be higher next year and the Marlins have more time to evaluate the prospects they value most.

And brining up Ellsbury makes my argument, not yours. His peak season was his age 27 season. Stanton will be in his age 23 season. Ellsbury’s age 27 season looks to be more of anomaly more than anything else. Stanton’s number are building in a way we have seen from other superstars.

Could Stanton have a career-altering injury in 2013? Sure. But it is more likely that he continues his ascent to super-stardom.

Not a coincidence that they are strongly denying all of this just as single-game tickets are about to go on sale. Might as well try to gouge their poor fans one more time before they ship off one of the best young players in the sport.

He’ll be dealt in 2013, 100%.

There is also the possibility that a player any player can suffer an injury which would seriously hinder his future value both to the Marlins and and prospective team interested in acquiring him. For eample I refer you to Jacoby Ellsbury. IF the Red Sox had traded him after his 2011 season with still 2 years of team control he would have brought the Red Sox a kings ransom instead the Red Sox are hoping that Ellsbury has a bounce back year so maybe some team might be interested enough to offer them something at the trade deadline.

When the Rangers moved Mark Teixeira, he only had a year and a half of team control, and they still got a damn impressive haul.

I think they will trade him but should wait at least until next offseason. Evaluate everyone’s farm system, and have the exact package you would take ready to go.

The franshise can either win a deal like the Rangers did with Teixeira, or lose horribly like they did with the Cabrera deal.
