That knee rip made Mickey a one legged player later in his career but he fought through the pain for many season to his credit.! Joe was so jealous of Mickey that Mickey never hung with his posse.Billy Martin and Mickey were drunks but they didn't get Mob payoffs for nightclub appearances like Joe did. They got cash $$ for signing cards. Mickey got the same $$ or more than Joe for his Yankee Stadium appearances , which never failed to piss Joe off big time. Joe had a mega-ego imagine of himself that knew no bounds. But I do give him respect for telling Marilyn Monroe to stand up to her movie studio bosses when newcontract time. came.Joe fought with the Yankee brass over every contract Read the book, you'll thank me later.

His book on Joe D was amazing, went behind the taboo curtin and pulled it waaaaaaaaaaaay back to reveal what a lowlife Joe was and the grease balls he hung with. He should have been thrown out of baseball long before he retired, I 'm convinced he had something to do with the drainage cover not being over the pipe that Mickey ripped his knee to hell with. The story about him taking his Mob $$ out of his damaged home in plastic garbage bags right after the 89 earthquake is a classic. Say it ain't so Joe.! Did I forget to mention that he cried his way out of the Army, never saw any action. A real man like Ted Williams flew many missions and served in 2 wars.
