20 MLB teams no doubt. You give Freddy Sanchez a chance he'll prove you right every time. You tell him it can't be done or he's "washed up" he'll prove you WRONG every time. Freddy could be 75% and make a whole handful of teams rosters.

If he happens to be 100% watch out! The guy flat out competes every pitch on both sides of the field. Freddy rehabbed his way back last year during the WS. You stick him in the WS last year he would have got a clutch hit.

Someone should give him a 1 year 2 million dollar contract 1.5 at the very least. If you know what this guy is made it's dumb not to bring him in. I personally would like him to go to Houston. The guy is so competitive and he's a winner. 2 rings in 3 years isn't too bad!

If I were Houston I would get rid of Greene and Elmore let Sanchez come in and compete with Altuve. Or trade Altuve and get some starting pitching. Greene barely hit above the Mendoza line and Elmore has 68 MLB ABs.

Bottom Line go Freddy!

A brittle 2B and a converted corner-IF-turned-2B will probably be about equal defensively. Freddy would have to be 100%, which he hasn't been in two years, to justify a deal, imo.

This surprises you?
"Give him a chance" could mean just about anything.
Sounds about right that 20 teams feel they need help at 2B. a position where alot of teams teams are always lacking. The timing is right to start looking at somethng like this from a team's perspective. .We are well past the the prime FA signings period. A non-roster invite to spring training with a low-ball minor league contract sounds about right with his injury issues. He actually got cleared last year to play after his shoulder improved. The back is what kept him from returning to the majors. If that holds up this spring he is worth a look at least.

I actually looked up to see what position he played, and when I saw he was 2B I hoped Stl would be interested. Even a gamble like Sanchez would ease my mind more than seeing Matt Carpenter at 2nd after just one offseason of working out there and very little, if any, time playing there in the past. After the odd signings they've made this offseason, it would be nice to see them try to fill an obvious defensive gap.

Look for St. Louis to be one of the seriously interested teams. They have money to burn, or pocket, still could use some help at second base, unless they think Wigginton or Carpenter are realistic alternatives, and could use some depth, especially if Kozma begins 2013 in Memphis.
