I’m picturing some utility guy (Bloomquist, Cairo) dashing into the clubhouse to change his jersey and cap every time he changes position. I’m guessing this practice died out because it was easier to figure out that the guy standing in center field was the center fielder rather than remember that the guy in the red and black striped cap and jersey was the center fielder.

If I’m paying appearance fees for MLB players to be at some sort of event to promote my company, I’d have it in writing that they would wear their standard game hats. That’s the logo and colors everyone recognizes and wants to see if they are at said event. Then if they show up in the interview hats, clearly nothing more than a weak effort at selling more gear to fans, then they pay me.
