The main upgrade they can do to Dodger Stadium is get rid of those urinal troughs in the men’s rooms. It’s usually shorts weather in L.A. and more than once I had a drunk guy with poor aim pee on my bare leg while using one. Using them was a dehumanizing experience.

Just like a lot of other ballparks/arenas today in the era of million-dollar benchwarmers, it’s too bad they can’t get rid of all those advertising signs. Dodger Stadium used to be the most beautiful ballpark in the Major Leagues.

1080i video is “interlaced.” 1080i video plays back at 60 frames per second, but that’s a bit deceptive, because it’s actually broadcast at 30 frames per second. The TV then displays those frames twice, in a way—the first pass is 1,920-by-540 for the even scan line field, and the second pass is 1,920-by-540 for the odd scan line field. The process by which this occurs is called interlacing. It contributes to a sense of motion and reduces perceived flicker.

1080p video is called “progressive scan.” In this format, 1,920-by-1,080-pixel high-definition movies are progressively drawn line after line, so they’re not interlaced. On paper, that may not seem like a huge deal. But in the real world, what you end up seeing looks sharper and more defined than 1080i, particularly during scenes with a lot of fast motion.

A couple of other points: Everything broadcast is in 1080i. And in a few more years Ultra High Definition (aka 4K) will be the new standard.

After a little research, it looks like it’s actually the spacing between the LEDs. I guess the closer together they are, the closer you can be and still view the image

You are correct. And those are always given in mm or (microns for certain types of devices) – reason its not 1 cm.

Think of it as “that is the light bulb size” (reference to the old Astrodome score board – where they really where light bulbs)

stex – do you think that the LED’s are the same size on a 90″ 1080P screen and a 32″ 1080P screen? (not being snarky)

I assumed at first that 10 mm was a screen resolution. But no, I see they are 1080P. Either they mean ” 10 metre”, or they had better mount individual telescopes on the seats so fans can read the scoreboards.
