That would require either 1. Spending money they don’t have for a better free agent outfielder (which at this late date would probably mean only Bourn), or 2. trading prospects, which their whole strategy has been to accumulate, not trade away. Trading away any current major leaguers of value would just create a hole somewhere else, because they have no surplus major league talent.

I hope it’s just a bargaining position, because otherwise it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
