Youk played for the Red Sox; he's aware that Boston fans have been known to eat their young at Fenway, so simply getting booed by them is a relief.

As a player, he's been booed in Yankee Stadium before. The big difference between getting booed by the home team in The Bronx, is that the fans aren't into human sacrifice; they'll just spit on your wife or girlfriend to show their displeasure.

get back healthy and for all you saying we will finish 3rd why? because all those great players from the #1 team in MLB the marlins will make them the best? this is the AL East which is a beast and will be quite tough. but we have a very good very experienced rotation

and our lineup isn't looking that bad, games are played on the field so let's see we have a long track record of making into the playoffs every year besides the one we missed few years back

How Youk will handle being booed in the Bronx? Jesus, where do you people come from? The man spent a majority of his career in Boston. I heard they boo up there from time to time.

Now I suspect this is where you tell me it's not the same as "Da Bronx!"

Jeter is dedicated, and will be at least as good as he was in his worst year when he hit .270. I feel I can pretty safely say Jeter is not likely to be the problem, even at age 39. Problems that are real: 1. Generally pitchers need someone behind the plate, you know, to catch the pitches that haven't been hit, and that player has to come up to bat 3-5 times a game. 2. No right handed of/dh. 3. No one to play 1b when Mark "Brittle Bones" gets his annual "owie". 4. No one that will replace Swishes 25 bombs and Martin's 19. 5. No one that is named Curtis Granderson that will strike out less than 150 times. 6. How will Youk handle getting booed the first time he strikes out in a key situation in da Bronx. These are the reasons that I see the lights being out in the Bronx in 2013 for only the second time in the postseason since 1995.

IIRC his off-season home is in Tampa. This makes the journey to the Yankees' spring training home less than long and perilous.

It's good that he's following medical orders and doing everything necessary to try to be ready for Opening Day, but we should stop a bit short of awarding him the Presidential Medal of Freedom for it.
