We told you about the fan vote for the cover of “MLB ’13 The Show” earlier this week, so we might as well let you know that after five days of voting (and heavy campaigning by all parties on Twitter), Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen was declared the winner.

McCutchen was trailed by CC Sabathia, Miguel Cabrera, Matt Kemp, Bryce Harper, Buster Posey and Ryan Braun. Check out the full results here, if you are so inclined.

Here’s McCutchen expressing his gratitude via his Twitter account:

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to dust off my NES and turn on some RBI Baseball. I’ll tell ya, that chunky guy that’s supposed to be Vince Coleman can’t be stopped!

Congrats to McCutchen and Pirates fans

A singular ballot made up of the BBWAA HOF electorate voted for no one for cover of “The Show”…

Yay! Us pirates fans finally won something!

It’s that famous Western Pennsylvania bias. Voters never care about the Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers, and I’m sick of it.

Also, McCutchen was nice to the voters.

Haha Ozzie smith and Vince Coleman. Best 1-2 in RBI baseball. They are steal machines.

Good call. I’d love to have a guy like that in Seattle.

    • gigab0t - Jan 12, 2013 at 10:23 AM

      are you 12?

    • Ari Collins - Jan 12, 2013 at 10:25 AM

Uhh… McCutchen beat him in BA, RBI, R, HRs, 2Bs, OBP, SLG, Hs, SBs (though not SB%!, so you’ve got that!), and plays a more demanding position.

      Harper is… younger?

      • cur68 - Jan 12, 2013 at 12:38 PM

Yeah, well Bryce ALSO beat Cutch in smearing eye black on his face and putting in red contact lenses. Harper RULED at that.

    • husky2score - Jan 12, 2013 at 3:01 PM

Oh really? I thought super duper hooper hero A-Roid should have won the cover!

  6. natsattack - Jan 12, 2013 at 10:33 AM

As a Nats fan, McCutchen had a much better season than Harper, he was far more deserving, good choice.

  7. dayno66 - Jan 12, 2013 at 11:04 AM

Hysterical to me that Cabrera didnt win. Considering he won the freaking triple crown and all.

    • chadjones27 - Jan 12, 2013 at 11:40 AM

It’s a fan vote. Not the MVP

    • historiophiliac - Jan 12, 2013 at 1:18 PM

      seriously petty

  8. modellforprez - Jan 12, 2013 at 11:20 AM

  9. onbucky96 - Jan 12, 2013 at 12:02 PM

Will he be on the cover playing in front of an empty stadium? Then it would be life like.

    • sfbookreviews - Jan 13, 2013 at 2:39 AM

Well, the Bucs drew over 2 million fans last year for 68.2% capacity. That’s good for 16th out of 30 clubs. But hey, let’s not let facts get in the way of your ignorance of Pirate baseball.

  10. themagicfanguy - Jan 12, 2013 at 12:23 PM

@Dayno There’s a reason for that. Nobody cares about anyone or anything from Detroit, even if the competition is from Pittsburgh.

this should have been a no brainer… Miggy should have been on the cover… Most of us will never see a Triple Crown winner again.
