Though, I don’t think $10.5M/year is a good deal for a 34 and 35 yr old player that has never hit that well and whose defense was never that good….with both declining as you would expect for his age. Plus, Cuddy won’t be free, they’ll have to give up something as well. If they were willing to do such a thing, they may as well have signed Ross.

I hear ya…….Cuddyer is not a world beater, but he’s solid and at 21 mil over the next two years he’s a bargain relative to those three year/39 million contracts they’ve been handing out like candy.

Cuddyer can’t catch, is old and declining, and has never been particularly good. He’s never had a single season in which he was as offensively productive as Napoli’s average.

Yes, Napoli’s healthy represents some risk….buy you know what you are getting with Cuddyer, and that is below average offense for a corner guy that also provided below average defense anywhere he plays.

The Rockies are going nowhere any time soon and Cuddyer would give them the solid, run producing right-handed bat they need…….and he’s one of those “high character/good clubhouse guys” the Red Sox seem to be looking for.
